| Technology Introduction |
|
The emergence of new mobile telecommunications network standards such as GSM,
GPRS, EDGE, and UMTS (3G) and the growth in the number of mobile subscribers have
created a worldwide market for analyzing, testing and monitoring such networks.
The development of these networks, characterized by enhanced technological features
and increased complexity, presents competitive environment to Shoghi to design
solutions to provide total passive Communication Surveillance solutions to its
various Government and Intelligence Gathering customers. |
|
GSM is currently one of the leading digital cellular systems. GSM has become the
world's most widely used mobile system in use in over 150 countries. GSM networks
operate in all continents: Europe, Africa, Australia, Asia, and Americas. |
|
GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) is one of the key steps in the technology
evolution from GSM to 3G (Third Generation). GPRS allows a permanent data connection
and free information flow for the end user?s mobile. Furthermore, one of the key
benefits with GPRS is the more advanced billing and charging system. It allows
charging based on the services that a user will access, not the duration of the
connection. |
|
EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for Global Evolution)
is the second step in the evolution of GSM to 3G. EDGE will allow data speeds
up to 384 kbit/s. The EDGE allows the advantages of GPRS to be fully explored,
with fast connection set-up and higher bandwidth than traditional GSM technology.
The combination of GPRS and EDGE will also result in much improved utilization
of the radio network. |

| System Introduction |
|
The system Integrated Passive
GSM Monitoring System through BTS/BSC Link Surveillance provides total traffic
monitoring of the target BTS/BSC Link. These Links generally communicate using
E1/E2/E3 Microwave links depending on the network design and implementation. |
|
The system comes in a Transportable chassis where all the modules are seamlessly
integrated to provide an Integrated Monitoring and surveillance platform to the
operator for effective and efficient Interception process. |
|
The system is an intelligent data acquisition tool with effective data pre-processing
capabilities for capturing the network data in the GSM, GPRS, EDGE networks. The
system has been designed in a manner to provide and capture both the uplink and
downlink data in the Abis interface. The system comes along with a GSM Protocol
Analyzer, which is an effective and easy-to-use PC-based protocol analyzer for
real-time monitoring and analysis of GSM, SS7, GPRS, EDGE and GSM-R networks.
It is a powerful tool for protocol monitoring and call and session analysis for
both network element manufacturers and mobile operators. |
|
The System is capable of analyzing in real-time a wide set of 2G/2.5G protocols
at multiple network interfaces simultaneously. The system can monitor Abis, A
and Gb over Frame Relay/IP interfaces, and at core network SS7 (C, D, E, F, G,
Gc, Gd, Gf, Gr), High Speed Signaling Link (HSL), SigTran, PSTN, Ga, Gi, Gn, Gp
and Gs as well as Location Services (LCS) interfaces. |
|
The GSM Analyser incorporated in the system has a wide support for manufacturer-specific
protocols. For Nokia, Ericsson, Nortel and Siemens GSM, GPRS and EDGE protocols
are fully supported. Lucent is supported for GSM and GPRS protocols; Motorola
and Alcatel also for GSM protocols. |
|
The System's SS7
Analyser is capable of analyzing in real-time protocols at the SS7 MAP (C, D,
E, F, G, Gc, Gd, Gf, Gr, Lc, Lg, Lh), TUP (PSTN), ISUP (PSTN, Nc), INAP, CAP,
SigTran and HSL interfaces. The Analyser supports the Chinese, Australian, UK,
Russian, French and Finnish country-specific variants of ISUP as well as ANSI
specification. |
