The equipment is a 19" rack mounting encryptor providing full duplex, synchronous link encryption for data rates up to 45 Mbps.

All types of applications such as classical link encryption or dial-up systems within public or private networks are supported.

The equipment works in protocol- transparent all data are encrypted) as well as in protocol- dependent (parts of the line protocol are not encrypted) operating mode. With exchangeable data interfaces the equipment is adaptable to all common interface specifications - such as ITU-T G.703 (e.g. digital hierarchies E3 and T3) or V-recommendations (e.g. V.11 and V.35) covering a universal application range even in changing or growing communication networks.

The High Speed Link Encryptor is fully compatible with the Data Link Encryptor Family.

The equipment allows encrypted connections within the Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchies (PDH) and can even be used in networks interfacing higher order hierarchies-Synchronous Digital Hierarchy SDH - e.g. STM-1 (155 Mbps). Encrypted connections to ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) switches in protocol - transparent applications are also supported. After simple configuration, all functions are completely automatic, a main requirement for unattended operation.

Common network management systems are supported by an auxiliary interface, which allows the monitoring of local or remote encryptors. A special installation mode provides stepwise integration of the encryptor into existing communication networks with minimum interruption of the link. Efficient unit and line test functions help to localize errors in the local as well as in the remote encryptor or on the link.
